Today I am sharing my Christmas home tour that was featured in two Christmas home decor magazines, Country Sampler Farmhouse Style and Traum Wohnen. There aren’t words to describe how thrilling the experience was and is for me! I am truly honored and in complete disbelief, definitely a dream come true. You can also see a video home tour I did on Living It Country You Tube channel. So without further ado, here is the tour and how to decorate cottage style for Christmas.

How to Make Prints Look Like Antique Oil Paintings

by Janet Clark at Home

These oil painting portraits are so good! You may have seen the hack to brush Mod Podge over paper prints to make them look more like a painting. I tried that with my portraits, but they just did not have the texture and age of a true oil painting. I am so excited to share my upgrade to the Mod Podge method and show you how to make prints look like antique oil paintings! Plus, I am sharing all the links to these free portrait printables!

How To Decorate a Corner Cozy Farmhouse Style

by Janet Clark at Home

You may remember that I have been rearranging my dining room to create a dual purpose room. I created a sitting area and I moved the table in front of the window for the dining area. The dining room was seldom used, but this new set up creates a space I want to enjoy everyday. But moving the table meant empty corners. Today I am sharing two corners of the room and how to decorate a corner cozy farmhouse style.

How To Make A French Picking Basket

by Janet Clark at Home

chippy white shelves and an French picking basket

When I put together this shelf for the dining room, I knew I wanted to add something to the side, something rustic, to ground the feminine rose pattern China. An old basket would be perfect. I tried hanging different baskets that I had, but I really needed a wall basket, which I didn’t have. My first instinct is to see if I can use something I already have, not to buy something new. This is what I came up with, I decided to make a French picking basket.

How To Build Shelves With Architectural Salvage

by Janet Clark at Home

Chippy architectural salvage shelves

I have been rearranging the dining room and my original vision was to move the hutch top from the kitchen to this wall behind the dining room table. The hutch top turned out to be a little large, but more importantly, was a little too unstable to hang on the wall. Once I had that image of the chippy hutch top filled with china, I had to try and create the look another way. I decided to put together some architectural salvage pieces to build shelves that resembled a cabinet.

How to Make a Dried Flower Garland

by Janet Clark at Home

It’s a new season and you know what that means, a new look for my French drying rack! In the spring, I usually hang bundles of dried flowers, but this year I decided to do something a little different. I still love the dried flowers, so instead of the bundles, I decided to make a garland.

by Janet Clark at Home

Sitting room with french champagne crate coffee table

Do you remember the antique French champagne crate that I built to hold my Christmas tree? Well, I really didn’t want to put it away after Christmas because I loved it so much. I couldn’t find anyplace to use it however, so away it went. A few weeks ago, I rearranged the dining room to have a little seating area, and guess what? The champagne crate works perfectly there as a coffee table! Today I am going to show you how to build a French champagne crate coffee table, but I am really just building a top for the crate I already built.

How to Decorate A Cottage Style Hutch for Spring

by Janet Clark at Home

an antique cupboard decorated for spring

Are you ready for spring? We have had a few beautiful spring like days mixed in with some not so beautiful winter days, but it definitely feels like spring to me! It’s a little early for blooms, but not for bunnies. I found a pair of bunnies at the thrift store last year, so I gave them a quick makeover and added a little spring to the dining room cupboard. Here is my version of how to decorate a cottage style hutch for spring.

How to Style Artificial Tulips Found on Amazon

by Janet Clark at Home

I love to use Tulips for spring decor! Fresh tulips are wonderful, but I love to have artificial ones on hand. When decorating the mantel, or to keep on a table, it’s nice not to have to change them every few days or have an empty vase. The store selection has been slim the last couple of years, and well, they just aren’t very pretty. So I decided to order some so I could share my findings with you. I am also sharing how to style artificial tulips found on Amazon.
