I think Mother Nature was just showing off this year, or maybe I was just more appreciative. However it happened, I was inspired by all the beautiful blooms and wanted to enjoy them as much as possible. Today I am talking about decorating my home using flowering branches in the springtime.
Springtime creates a feeling in me like no other season. Fall is beautiful, but it always feels like an ending, a little sad. Spring is a time of new beginnings and hope. The colors of pink abound. And oh how I love pink!
Blooms In The Kitchen
I seem to have lost track of the type of trees in my yard. When we moved in, I selected five different flowering trees to plant in our yard. I believe the branches above belong to a crab apple tree.
My cupboard and DIY French drying rack got a couple of different looks. First I added hanging vases, placing a single bloom in each. A bundle of branches filled my DIY french basket and top the drying rack.
I hung the vases with a natural string wrapped around the top and then tied them to the rack.
As one branch faded and another bloomed, I tweaked the space just a bit. I switched out the basket, and added a matching vintage floral print.
A white ironstone pitcher was filled with the newest blooming branches. These beauties are from a cherry tree. I think they are my favorite, just don’t tell the other trees I said that.
Another view of these beautiful branches.
Blooms In The Living Room
Moving into the living room, I created a vignette on the coffee table using an old watering can filled with more blooming branches.
The mantel was not overlooked. Pear tree blossoms and greenery fill an urn, and branches fill an old jar wrapped with a book page.
The Pear tree is always the first tree of the season to bloom. I have mixed feelings about it. Although beautiful, the tree full of white flowers reminds me more of snow than of spring.
Blooms In The Dining Room
Another cherry tree blooms with the palest of pink flowers. They are a lovely compliment to my DIY spring branches on the mantel.
I couldn’t resist pairing these branches with this small vintage platter. If you look closely, you can see it has a picture of a cottage surrounded by a beautiful garden full of blooms. I also brought in some “blooming” linens.
Blooms Everywhere?
Well that wraps my little tour of decorating my home using flowering branches. I feel like there is still more I could have done! Where were the blooms in the bedrooms? Or Entry? Or? There is always next year. Challenge accepted!

So even though it is time to say farewell until next year to these beautiful blooming branches, I am excited to say “Hello summer!”.
