And Where I Find Them
There is no question that I love to use vintage floral prints in my decor. In this post I am going to show some examples of decorating with vintage floral prints and where I find them.
The obvious place to find these vintage floral prints is at antique stores, and I have many that I have acquired that way. A more affordable way to collect these prints is to look in the less obvious places, like thrift store books as one example. I am going to share just a few of my ideas for using floral prints and how to find them affordably.
A Gallery Wall Of Vintage Rose Prints for Under $30 – Found at Auction
One of my favorite finds of all time was a collection of botanical rose prints I won at auction for $5.00. I had to work hard for them though.
At the end of the night when the auction ended, you could pick out something that you wanted to buy, but had not been put up for auction. They would open bidding on the item. The only requirement was that you started the bid at $5.00. I selected the prints and no one else bid, so they were mine for $5.00!
I always challenge myself to do things as inexpensively as possible, and this was no exception. I searched the thrift stores for inexpensive frames. I refused to pay more than $4.00 each. Most were around $2.00, some were only $1.00. They are not matching, but they are the same size and similar widths.
Painting them all the same color unified them. I added the prints, and I couldn’t be happier!
Whimsical Wall Art With Vintage Floral Prints – Found in a “How to Paint Roses” Book
I tore the pages out of a book of rose painting prints and created some fun wall art. These would be wonderful framed for a gallery wall as well. I found this book at an antique market and I believe I paid about $6.00 for it.
Lining A Drawer With Vintage Floral Prints – Found in a Gardening Book Purchased at an Estate Sale
I wrote a post on how I used these book pages to line a desk drawer. You can read it here. These pages were from “The Time Life Encyclopedia of Gardening” – Roses. Actually I have come across two of these books and used them in different projects.
These books were only a couple of dollars at an estate sale and something you could definitely come across in a thrift store.
My love for all things floral and vintage runs deep and these prints top my list. I also love that if you keep your eyes open, they can be found inexpensively. You can definitely get a big impact for a little price.
