I am so excited to share my french farmhouse kitchen cupboard decorated for Christmas!
I don’t think this qualifies as an actual cupboard, but it just feels so homey and cozy to call it that.
Bringing in the French Farmhouse Feel
I have been planning this area for so long. The first step was building this “antique french” drying rack to hang above the cupboard. You can see the post here. It really sets the tone for the french farmhouse feel.
Next I made spindle ornaments from salvaged stair spindles. You can read about that here.
Hanging the Spindle Ornaments
To hang the spindles, I used some jute twine threaded through a yarn needle, stringing cranberries and bay leaves. The jute was pulled through the hole in the spindle and tied in a knot.
Adding Gingerbread and Candles
Ginger bread ornaments completed the display and added all the Christmas scents. I used this recipe, poked holes in the top with a straw before baking, and used fishing line to hang.
Candles always add that Christmas sparkle. This area is quite shadowy, so the added glow was very welcome.
I took an old wooden box and placed a 2×4″ board inside. A 3/4″ drill bit was used to make holes to hold the candles. The ribbon was cut from some ticking fabric and tied in a bow.
The gingerbread cookie house and bottle brush trees created a hint of a town. I envisioned icicles and stars in the sky over a wintry village.
I used red and white transferware to bring in some Christmas color.
Adding Christmas Color to the Ironstone
Berries, greenery, and apples add a natural and festive touch to my collection of ironstone.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of one of my favorite spots to decorate. I am working on spreading the french farmhouse feel throughout the kitchen and will be sharing soon!
Thanks for stopping by,
