You may remember that I have been rearranging my dining room to create a dual purpose room. I created a sitting area and I moved the table in front of the window for the dining area. The dining room was seldom used, but this new set up creates a space I want to enjoy everyday. But moving the table meant empty corners. Today I am sharing two corners of the room and how to decorate a corner cozy farmhouse style.
Corner 1 – Cozy Side Table/Buffet
Don’t have the perfect table to make a cozy corner? No problem. I turned this stuff I had in storage into a rustic farmhouse side table/buffet.
I started with this small table, but it just wasn’t quite right. It was too short, and I really wanted it to go to the wall, but still be centered under the light. And honestly, I couldn’t think of anything to put on the bottom.
As I was searching for baskets to stack on the table to add height, I came across this large wooden tray. Somehow that evolved into turning it over to create a table top.
I liked it, but it was still too short.
Some wooden blocks under the tray worked perfectly.
To hide all the unsightly nonsense under the tray, I used a tension rod and some curtain panels to create a skirt.
I wanted the table decor to be warm and cozy while still being dining room appropriate. The warmth was achieved with the natural wicker, and a teapot and china are certainly dining room staples.
Corner 2 – Cozy Vintage Prints and Ironstone
Are vintage prints cozy? To me they are! This is the sitting area side of the room. I filled the corner with lots of vintage floral prints, my antique baker’s rack filled with ironstone, and an old dress form.
The dress form is wearing a print, too. I just printed out a free image, tea stained it, and put it in this antique frame. You can find the free image link that is in a previous post, and a post on tea staining as well.
I hope you enjoyed this post on how to decorate a corner cozy farmhouse style, well two corners actually. I still have a couple of things to do before the room is complete. Slowly but surely it is coming together.
Honestly, this dining room project has helped me keep my sanity during an extreme staircase makeover project that I am working on. I can’t wait to share that with you, but in the mean time, I’ll be making pretty corners!
