Today I am sharing my Christmas home tour that was featured in two Christmas home decor magazines, Country Sampler Farmhouse Style and Traum Wohnen. There aren’t words to describe how thrilling the experience was and is for me! I am truly honored and in complete disbelief, definitely a dream come true. You can also see a video home tour I did on Living It Country You Tube channel. So without further ado, here is the tour and how to decorate cottage style for Christmas.
Christmas in a Cottage Kitchen
The Hutch and Drying Rack
If you have been reading for awhile, then you know how much fun I have decorating this French drying rack that I built. I actually kept it pretty simple this year. The baskets stayed in place, and I added bundles of hanging greens. The orange slice garland was the stand out feature I think. So easy to make, classic style, and smells delicious. This is how I dried my oranges.
The bundles of greens are faux greenery with fresh eucalyptus and baby’s breath. I added a few berries, gingerbread cookies, and cinnamon sticks to the bundles. It doesn’t just look like Christmas, it smells like Christmas!
A little greenery and a few candles were added to my hutch top. I love the green with my white ironstone collection. This vintage recipe box brings to mind lovely days of cooking and baking for Christmas.
The French doors got two small wreaths, and a few pops of red were added with velvet ribbon.
Christmas on the Kitchen Shelves
I display these red transferware dishes year round and they are perfect for Christmas. A faux greenery garland with more eucalyptus and baby’s breath, as well as some gingerbread hearts, drapes across the top shelf. More red transferware tea cups hang on my Diy picket fence hanging rack. Bottle brush trees, vintage cookie cutters, and a red checked towel complete the look.
On the kitchen island are some fresh tree clippings in an ironstone pitcher. I tied on a few orange slices to the clippings and displayed them with a jar of gingerbread cookies and a candle, placed on a piece of red and white needlework.
The Kitchen Dining Area
Another favorite to decorate is the plate rack that I built. I added this Diy tote bag turned grain sack wall pocket, and filled it with greens and a favorite vintage cookie cutter.
I placed this feather tree in a vintage basket and topped it with an antique grain sack. The tree is decorated with velvet ribbon and mini gingerbread ornaments. I just love the flying reindeer cookies! These candles and clips were an estate sale find.
Behind the tree are a few of my ironstone pitchers hanging on a folding peg rack.
How to Decorate Cottage Style for Christmas in a Family Room

I decorated the family room with lots of handmade, rustic French decor.
This Diy fireplace mantel was decorated with stockings made from old flour sacks and thrift store sweaters. I made paper bag stars and hung them over my paper mache glitter houses. A branch from the Christmas tree trimmings I picked up at the home improvement store was placed in an urn and decorated with red ornaments.
One of my favorite additions to the Christmas decor this year was this French champagne crate that I built using reclaimed wood. I also found the perfect Christmas tree for it.
This bell garland was created by using the sugared spun cotton bells and the paper mache bells that I made. The swan planter was filled with feathers and a vintage bell was tied around its neck. The other vases and planters were filled with vintage ball ornaments.
White Cottage Christmas Dining Room
I always seem to get carried away in this room in one way or another. This year is was creating this overflowing mantel. Here is where you can find this gorgeous off white tree.
A little scene tops my antique backers rack, and birds have landed here and there. The joy banner was a simple diy.
The banner and angel wings on the mirror over the mantel, my dress form with angel wings, and a replica angel costume in the entry created an angel theme in the room.
I actually styled my entry twice.
A more vintage look…
And a more rustic look.
I moved the angel costume to the other side of the entry and place it on my French chair. A hat box filled with ornaments and paper stars hanging from the ceiling complete the area.
Christmas in a Cottage Style Bedroom
I actually decorated my bedroom after Christmas, but before the photographer came to take photos for the magazine.
This was the first time I used my colorful vintage ornaments, and I absolutely love it!
I made a vintage bell garland to drape behind the bed.
A little book tree on top of the dresser.
Two Magazine Features!
As I mentioned earlier, I was so honored to be featured in two magazines.
Country Sampler Farmhouse Style. A professional photographer came to my home to take the photos.
And Traum Wohnen. This feature used my photos.

What an inspiration to see all your diy projects. I saw your article in the Farmhouse Style magazine. Could you please tell me where you found the Christmas pillow with the sleigh and reindeer?

Thank you so much! I think you are referring to the pillow on the cover? I wish I could help, but that photo is from another home featured in the magazine. I hope you find it! Thanks for reading!
