I have always loved simple Scandinavian style candle rings at Christmas. They are beautiful to hang in a window, hang in groupings from the ceiling, or hang on a cabinet. I had a plan that required quit a few of them, so I decided to make my own. Today I am going to show you how to make a hanging candle ring.

How To Create An Antique White Finish On Metal
This is my absolute favorite way to give metal an antique look.
First, spray paint the rings and candle holders black.
Then spray paint them a creamy white, leaving some of the black showing through.
Finally, wipe on some dark furniture wax. I also love this wax, and it is easier to get.
Here is a little before and after of the dark wax. Looks like it has been around for years!
Attaching the Candle Holder And Adding Embellishments
The candle holder tends to wiggle around when clipped on the ring. I used a little E6000 glue on the ring and then clipped it on. Hang somewhere to let dry.
Now the fun part. You can add any embellishments that you like to match your decor. I decided to go green and red. The greenery and berries are from Hobby Lobby. Take the stems apart and hot glue them to to the ring.
I ended up making ribbon out of ticking fabric and then just tied in a simple bow. I have so many ideas for variations here, I just may be making more.
The candle doesn’t quite fit the holder, so I added a bit of this tacky stuff to keep the candle secure.
There you go! Now you know how to make a hanging candle ring. There are so many options for where you hang them or how you decorate them. I hope you let your imagination run and give it a try!

Thank you so much! I purchased my Annie Sloan wax at a local small shop. It can be found searching online. Lowes carries a dark wax by Valspar that I am sure would work, although I haven’t tried it yet.
