How To Make A Sheet Music Christmas Banner

by Janet Clark at Home

I was decorating my kitchen hutch for Christmas when I realized my basket needed a little something. I had made these paper bag stars to hang from the French drying rack, and sheet music seemed to be the perfect compliment. A sheet music banner is about a 15 minute project, and I had all the supplies on hand. It was meant to be! Today I am going to show you how to make a sheet music Christmas banner.

Steps To Make A Sheet Music Banner

First you will need some sheet music. I have tons that I have collected from estate sales, but I can imagine that not everyone has sheet music sitting around. You can download a sheet to print out.

Isn’t this one beautiful?

Once you have the sheet music, cut it into three pieces. Mine are about 5-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches.

Then cut a “v” out of the bottom. I cut about an inch up.

Using a 3 inch stencil and black paint, I added the letters. You could also print the letters on the sheet music and then cut it into three pieces. Whatever you have or is easiest for you.

If you want to tea stain the music like I did, here is the easiest tea staining method ever.

Finally, cut a piece of twine, fold over the sheet music, and glue. I used hot glue. If your sheet music curls up after tea staining, you can use an iron to flatten it out! Set the iron on a low setting and cover the sheet music with a paper towel.

And that’s how to make a sheet music JOY banner for Christmas. As always, this can be customized in so many ways. Any size, or any phrase, and it is so quick and easy. We all need those types of projects this time of year.

PIN IT FOR LATER!

Janet
