It’s that time of year when we want to cozy up our homes and bring in the colors of the season. Simple and neutral is what I crave for fall decor. That being said, I do not (or didn’t) actually own any fall decor. When it came time to add a few fall touches in the living room, I opted for a simple DIY garland for the mantel. Today I am going to share how to make a simple fall garland.
How to Make A Simple Fall Garland
Supplies – all are from Hobby Lobby
Grapevine wreath – make sure you get a wreath that has the smaller vines and is a continuous piece
Floral picks
Hot Glue Gun
Ribbon
Floral Wire
Step 1 – prepare the vine
I had this grapevine wreath leftover from the dried floral wreath I made. I pulled a couple of vines off the wreath, and draped it across the mantel.
Clear Command hooks hold the vine in place
On the other side, I used two hooks, one on top and one underneath.
Step 2 – Add the floral picks
Separate the picks into individual pieces.
These stems were wired, so all I had to do was twist them around the vine.
Remove the leaves form the stems, and hot glue to the vine.
I faced some to the left…
and then switched the leaves to face right.
Lastly, hot glue the hydrangeas to the vine.
Make the Bow
I used a green, frayed edge velvet ribbon from for my bow.
Make three single bows.
Attach them together with a piece of floral wire through the backs.
Use the wire to hang the bow on the Command hook.
This simple fall garland can be customized to fit any color scheme, you don’t have to keep it neutral. I would have loved to use all free dried florals on this, but I just didn’t have enough available. It was quick and easy and budget friendly!
