How To Make A Ruffled Slipcover For An Outdoor Sofa

by Janet Clark at Home

Today I am going to show you how to make a ruffled slipcover for an outdoor sofa. First will be the ruffled seat cover, and second will be the ruffled back cover.

No one is ever more surprised at how one of my projects turns out than I am. It is a twisty, turny road to get to the finish line. Rarely do I ever finish a project the way I started out to do it. Those that know me well will not be surprised by this. I have trouble making up my mind, and then when I do, I like to change it.

How To Turn A Hardwired Light Sconce Into A Candle Sconce

by Janet Clark at Home

I love vintage light sconces, but most newer homes don’t have hardwired light fixtures on the wall. And for most of us, we can’t just easily run the wires to create a spot, and budget wise it’s not always possible to hire a professional. You can still use these light fixtures in your decor by making a small adjustment. I am going to show you how to turn a hardwired light sconce into a candle sconce.

Hutch Refresh With Starched Vintage Recipes

by Janet Clark at Home

old hutch filled with ironstone collection

Today I added a little “somethin’ that ain’t nothin'” to my kitchen hutch. If I have said it once, I have said it a hundred times, I love old paper things! This recipe box full of old recipe cards was found at an estate sale. Incorporating them in the kitchen decor somehow would be so fun, so I did a hutch refresh with starched vintage recipes.

How To Create An Antique Gold Frame

by Janet Clark at Home

I decided to create a gold mirror gallery wall for the narrow hallway that connects the entryway and the family room. Since I have never been one to pass up a pretty gold mirror at a thrift store, there were plenty in my stash to create the gallery wall. However, I did not have the right shape mirror for one spot on the wall. A quick trip to the thrift store and I had an inexpensive mirror that just needed a little makeover. I am going to show you how to create an antique gold frame with spray paint and antiquing wax.

Vintage fireplace mantel and diy screen

After I completed my fireplace makeover, I was on the search for a fireplace screen. Actually, I had been searching for one during the whole makeover process, but was unsuccessful. Now you know I had to have one to photograph my new fireplace mantel, so what’s a girl to do? Make one! So I am going to show you how to turn a frame into a fireplace screen. Oh, and this is purely decorative. I would not try to use it with excessive heat and fire.

How To Make Custom Foam Furniture Cushions

by Janet Clark at Home

If you are ever gifted a vintage wicker porch set, or you buy an antique wicker rocker with springs but no cushion, or you buy a $5.00 chair from an estate sale and are so excited the chair is $5.00 that you don’t realize it has no seat cushion, this might come in handy. You might need to know how to make custom foam furniture cushions.

You probably guessed that all of the above apply to me. Today, however, I am going to show you how I made custom foam cushions for a vintage wicker sofa.
