This is the time of year when we reflect on past successes and challenges and look ahead to new adventures and goals. As part of my reflection, I decided to see which of my Instagram posts were the most popular. I share a lot of photos on Instagram that don’t make it into a blog post, so I thought I would share my most liked Instagram post from each month last year. And I am going to share one of my least popular posts that’s a bit embarrassing, but happens to be one of my favorite! So here we go, my top Instagram photos of 2021 by month.
Here Are The Top Instagram Photos of 2021
January
This was my first winter decor. I usually take down Christmas and leave things bare until spring, but I decided to leave the skates and add some greenery from the yard. I was so surprised to find these pink heart shaped berries on the shrub branches. All these years we have lived here, and I had never noticed them before!
February
In February, I reupholstered this chair. I am just now realizing that I never wrote a blog post with the tutorial. Expect that to come this year! I also added this framed rose needlepoint that I purchased from an estate sale.
March
March had so many of my favorites, but this one was the gram’s favorite! It was a dreary day and I just felt like playing with decor. This spool cabinet was given to me by mom and I absolutely love it. For as long as I can remember this cabinet was in her sewing room, and now it is in mine!
March also had one of my lowest performing posts, but one of my favorites! I built this mantel and installed bead board above it. It was such a dramatic before and after. If you missed it, you can see the before here. But of course it is embarrassing that one of the least successful posts had a picture of me in it HaHa!
April
April was such a beautiful month last year! Each tree that bloomed was more beautiful than the last. I used blooming branches everywhere! These vases hanging from my French drying rack were a favorite.
May
This rare photo of my bedroom was by far the most liked post for May. It’s rare that I share this room because it’s just not done. One of the projects holding me back was this bench. I had repaired it and added foam to the seat, and then never finished. In the spur of the moment, I threw this vintage linen over the seat, added a couple of safety pins, and it was good for now.
June
I love to tell a story with my photos. This one I imagined a lovely afternoon cup of tea while reading a good book. It was actually a very hot day for June, and I was out in the garage pouring sweat while working on a project!
July
After the beautiful April blooms had faded, I replaced the hanging vases with dried flowers. This area is always a favorite to decorate. Right now it’s bare, and I am contemplating what kind of winter decor I can add. Or do I just go spring?
August
I built this plate rack (one follower called it a platter ladder) and I just love it. With the addition of this dried flower hanging and the large basket, it was the favorite in August.
September
This was also the first year I did much in the way of fall decorating, and it was so much fun. I used mostly natural elements like greens and branches from the yard, pears, apples, and pine cones. This photo featured my new to me buffet.
October
More fall decor in the kitchen hutch. I used the same natural elements here, but added faux sunflowers and little mini velvet pumpkins. Warm woods and candlelight made this so cozy.
November
And the hutch top that almost went to the scrap pile was November’s top post. So glad I decided to rebuild this! Simple greenery with red velvet ribbon against the white played nicely with the non fussy styling of the buffet. Can you guess what’s in the little drawers? Candy! A weakness around here.
December
This little cutie got the December love! I replaced my wooden kitchen utensils with a little tree and added gingerbread ornaments. My red and white kitchen makes Christmas decorating an easy transition.
Now what?
Each year after the Christmas decor comes down, I always ask myself, “Now what?”. Well, I walked around the house and made a list of all the projects I want to do, and let’s just say, I won’t be running out of things to do anytime soon. From major room re-dos to simple projects, I have so many ideas to share.
I hop you enjoyed seeing my top Instagram photos of 2021. January always feels like a time to organize, and for me that means finally finishing my work studio. It’s organizing and decorating. I always like an involved project to jump start the creative juices after the holidays. I look forward to sharing all my upcoming projects with you!
PIN IT FOR LATER!
